Packrafting Overview

Alaska’s Fastest Growing Sport!

Packrafts are inflatable, one-person boats that fit in a light backpack, enabling adventures that combine hiking and paddling, while keeping it simple.

Whether you’re interested in our no experience necessary Packrafting Day Trip, want to hone your own skills with a KWG Packrafting Course, or are looking for the ultimate guided multi-sport adventure, KWG is Alaska’s Premier Packrafting Guide Service.

KWG’s Packrafting Day Trips are an amazing way to experience this new exciting Alaskan sport in a uniquely glacial setting; within walking distance of McCarthy-Kennicott.

Our Packrafting Courses are geared toward getting you ready to go on the adventures you’re dreaming about. KWG’s dedicated packraft instructors utilize our backyard wilderness classroom in designing courses focused on the skills you need to plan, execute and enjoy your own packraft trips.

KWG is recognized as one of Alaska’s leading resources for packrafting information and instruction.

We are proud to be working directly with Alpacka Raft, Kokatat Drysuits, and Werner and Aquabound Paddles.  Aside from being the leading products on the market in the packrafting industry, all of these companies manufacture their product here in the USA.

Most of our fleet of Alpacka Packrafts are the new 2012 – 2017 models with the Cargo Fly, Bow Bag, and Whitewater Spray Deck.  We also outfit every one of our clients in a full U.S. Made Kokatat Drysuits in order to keep you safe and dry on your river adventure.  All of our paddles top of the line, and made by Werner and Aquabound.

We are also advocates of the mission and work of both APA and American Whitewater.  Please visit their websites, and consider becoming a member.  Their support, and advocacy of river awareness, education, and stewardship programs are essential for all of the river travellers out there.
