Local Rivers Day
Packrafting Trip Description: Local Rivers Day
Our Local Rivers Day is a great day for experienced packrafters to explore one of the many accessible whitewater runs in our area. Depending on conditions there are as many as 7 local runs from CL II+ to CL III+ to chose from.
Trips within walking distance of town range in style from low volume technical boating on McCarthy Creek, to the big, fast, cold rush of the Kennicott River. For those looking for a true hiking based challenge, the McCarthy Creek Up & Over combines hiking for 2,700’+ feet up and down to access 11 miles of CL III packrafting. These are our backyard runs and we can’t wait to customize your day based on your group’s desires, ability level and current water levels.
Fly-In Day Packrafting
This is a great way to combine a flight see and a packrafting adventure in one of the worlds biggest wildernesses, all while getting back to the comforts of your lodging that night. The Nizina River and Glacier Creek all offer great fly-in CL II-III packrafting in huge wilderness settings and the Lakina River may be the best packrafting river in the whole park. If your looking for a no-experience necessary flatwater fly-in trip, the icebergs of the Nizina Lake are a must see.
You must be a competent packrafter to book a Local Rivers Day and Fly-In Day Packrafting, except Nizina Lake Fly-In Day Trips where no-experience is necessary
