Nizina Glacier

Trip Description

After a breathtaking flight past the Mile High Cliffs, you’ll be dropped off near the headwaters of the Nizina River alongside an incredible iceberg filled lake.

Based on your objectives, we can offer a variety of hiking or paddling trips that including hiking through fossil beds while taking in panoramic vistas, exploring glacier formed sand dunes, swimming in emerald bedrock pools, or hiking to our front row seats where we can try to catch the sight of an active glacier face calving into the lake.  If you’re up for a longer hike, we may even make it to an incredible network of old slot canyons.

Due to the relative ease of hiking surfaces and the ability to access such a spectacular place this is a great option for the seasoned adventurer, or for the whole family.  Because the area is at the valley bottom, this is also a great area to visit all season long starting as early as the beginning of June.

Do you want to add a some multi-sport variety to an already amazing basecamping trip?

We STRONGLY suggest adding packrafts to this trip to enable you to paddle through the lake’s spectacular maze of icebergs.  This is a fantastic way to add variety to your basecamping trip and has become our most popular multi-sport backcountry trip.
