Alpine Hikes

Get above it all.

Trip Description

Above Kennicott is an alpine of the highest beauty, a land of pastoral scenes with mountain backdrops of the largest scale.

From our office in Kennicott we have a variety of options to access the incredible alpine that surrounds us. Hike through meadows of wildflowers and picturesque passes with views of high peaks in all directions.

  • Scramble to the Eire Mine and look down on Root Glacier from a perspective not to be missed.
  • Bonanza or Jumbo Mine, both 4,000 ft above Kennicott, are worthy objectives with straight forward hiking, big views and historic buildings in spectacular settings.
  • For those looking for a fast and light day in the mountains, there are long loops that follow ridgelines. Want to get on top of a peak? There are various technical and non-technical options.

We did a full day glacier exploration tour with Mike, and couldn’t have had a better time. He was such a fun guide, and also helped find ice climbing opportunities to learn and also really enjoy the experience. The full day private tour really let him cater the day to what we were interested in – and it did not disappoint. We would highly recommend Kennicott Wilderness Guides, and especially Mike, if you’re looking for an awesome adventure!
